The specialty

Coats and winter gear, taken apart and put back together.

Coats are layered, quilted and often full of down, so they take time and care to open up and close again. They're the work we like best.

  • Zippers. Broken coat zippers swapped out, with new pulls where the old ones wore through.
  • Puffers and parkas. Rips patched so the down stays put, and sleeves or hems shortened.
  • Snow pants and shells. Hems taken up, worn cuffs rebuilt and torn seams closed.

About the shop

A neighborhood tailor, one garment at a time.

Your Tailor Shop is a small neighborhood shop. Every piece gets looked over, pinned and talked through before any work starts, so you know what you're getting and when it will be ready.

Most days it's hems, zippers and patches on clothes people want to keep wearing, with a few coats that need a whole new zipper or a sleeve taken up.

“If it’s worth keeping, it’s worth fixing right.”

How we work
  1. Drop off

Bring it in and show us what's wrong. If it's about fit, wear it, or bring the shoes that go with it.

  2. Pin and ticket

We pin it, mark it and write it up on a ticket with your name and a pickup day.

  3. The work

Each job goes to the right machine, with thread matched to the cloth.

  4. Pick up

Try it on before you leave, so anything that's off gets fixed then and there.

Questions

Good to know before you bring it in.

What kind of clothes do you work on?

Nearly anything you wear. Suits, jeans, dresses, shirts and coats all come through the shop, along with outdoor gear, vintage pieces and household things like curtains.

Can you work on a down coat or a rain shell?

Yes. Puffers, parkas and shells take more care than most clothes, but patches, new zippers, shorter sleeves and new hems are regular jobs here.

How long does a job take?

It depends on the job and the time of year. When you drop something off, we'll write a pickup day on your ticket.

Is it worth fixing?

Bring it in and we'll take a look. If a repair isn't worth the work, we'll tell you before we start.

When is the shop open?

Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. For a big job, call or text (555) 555-0100 before you come by so we can set aside time.
